Why It's Kid Worthy: Namesake “Joe Biggie,” one of 12 children, started out shucking shellfish on the streets of Hoboken for hungry tavern patrons and ended up opening a clam bar in the late 1940’s. Since then, the family-owned eatery has expanded to Carlstadt and Ramsey in New Jersey, and Kingsport, Tenn.
While clams, oysters, calamari, shrimp and other grown-up seafood dishes are still the stars at Biggies, there is plenty on the kids’ menu to keep the little ones happy. They can chow down on grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken fingers, burgers, thin-crust pizza, hot dogs and fried shrimp. For those with sweet tooths, Biggie's has sinfully rich Snickers, Reese's and Oreo pies.
