Mahwah Museum Presents Lecture On Township Iron Mines

MAHWAH, N.J. -- The Mahwah Museum will host a lecture on the iron mines of northern New Jersey on Thursday, May 12.

Ralph Colfax, president of the North Jersey Highlands Historical Society, will discuss the rise and fall of the iron mining industry in the North Eastern Highlands area of New Jersey. The program will explore over a dozen mining locations including the large Ringwood group of mines, the almost vanished Kanouse Mine in Haskell, the Roomy and Blue Mines located in the Norvin Green State Forest.

The lecture will begin at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served.

Admission to the museum is $3 for non-members.
