Celinda Ortega, of Fair Lawn, said she was “IHOPing” to different area restaurants to talk to pancake-lovers about the charity on IHOP’s National Pancake Day.
She was at the Fair Lawn location Tuesday morning, before hitting up Ramsey, she said.
“I am here spreading the message to have people donate to Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals so that we can support our patients at the children’s specialized hospitals here in New Jersey,” she told Daily Voice.
Ortega said she planned to take a donation jar around to tables, tell diners about the charity and ask them to donate. She was also joined by Miss Ramapo Valley, Lauren Staub, of Avon-By-The-Sea.
The breakfast spot on Route 17 and all others nationwide are giving away free pancakes Tuesday until 7 p.m. in an effort to raise money for children battling critical illnesses.
Instead of paying for their pancakes, diners are encouraged to donate. The national chain had a goal of raising $3.5 million across all its restaurants Tuesday.
