The images of 26 Port Authority police officers who died in the line of duty before and after 9/11 were added to a striking memorial on the New Jersey side of the George Washington Bridge. The memorial at Port Authority Police Benevolent Association headquarters off East Palisade Avenue in Englewood Cliffs originally was created to honor the 37 PAPD officers killed in the 9/11 terror attacks on America. They included K9 Sirius, whose handler put him into what was believed to be a safe place at the World Trade Center before the buildings fell. "At that time, we had what we believed to be ei…

When a commuter jet made an emergency landing on the Hudson River, Imperatore’s ferries rushed to the scene, helping to rescue everyone on board. Imperatore, the “visionary entrepreneur” who is credited with inventing the modern commuter ferry system, died Wednesday at 95 following a life of massive – and at times fascinating – achievement. Tunnel Traffic Into NJ Jammed By Passed Out Driver, Port Authority Says
An overnight traffic jam entering New Jersey from the Holland Tunnel had an uncommon twist: A driver drunk on wine had passed out behind the wheel, authorities said. Port Authority Police Officer Christopher Hooper got caught in the 2:20 a.m. traffic jam Saturday coming from the World Trade Center, then found 48-year-old Robert D. Tume-Ponce unconscious in a 2003 Ford Explorer -- the motor running and the car in gear -- at 14th Street and Manila Avenue, the authority's Joseph Pentangelo said. Tume-Ponce smelled of alcohol and had an open bottle of wine on the floor of the passenger seat, he…
