Paterson Drug Dealer Charged In OD Death Of Westwood Victim, 38, Prosecutor Says
A 39-year-old Paterson man has been charged with providing the drugs that allegedly resulted in a fatal overdose of a Westwood man in May, authorities said. Jesus A. Cantillo is believed to have provided the drugs that led to the death of 38-year-old Lance Kerness, of Westwood, who was found unresponsive in a home on May 2, 2024, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said on Friday, June 28. It’s not every day that a loaded gun turns up in the lost and found at Target. Surveillance video helped point Closter police to Tyshawn Culver, a 31-year-old convicted burglar from Westwood, soon after the gun was found on Tuesday, Oct. 24, Capt. Vincent Aiello said. UPDATE: A Westwood police officer fired a single shot during an overnight confrontation with a man who refused to drop a weapon moments after he tried to break into an Old Tappan residence, Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Dennis Calo said Monday. Westwood PD: Hit-Run Driver Found Block Away
A hit-and-run driver made it a block before Westwood police found her Tuesday morning in the parking lot of a nearby CVS, authorities said. She complained of not feeling well and was taken to a nearby hospital, as was the other driver, who complained of neck pain, Police Chief Michael Pontillo said The crash occurred on Broadway by the Rolling Pin Cafe. Alerted by a passerby, police found the other driver had turned the corner and pulled into the rear lot at the CVS, nearly 100 yards away. An investigation was continuing.
