Diana Golonek and Officer Grant Novak arrived at a house fire just before midnight Thursday. The living-room blaze was beginning to cook, leaving the pair little time. The borough driver's vehicle came to rest in a wooded area off the corner of Sheridan Avenue and East Prospect Street at 9:50 p.m. Sunday, March 6, Police Chief Mark F. Messner said. An occupant of the home got out OK and no injuries were reported in the two-alarm blaze, which broke out around 2 p.m. Tuesday on Sherwood Lane off Crescent and Franklin avenues and was quickly knocked down. Car Slams Into Front Of Waldwick Dry Cleaners No injuries were reported after a compact car slammed into the front of a Waldwick dry cleaners early Monday afternoon. It was unclear why the female driver's Ford Focus lurched forward, smashing a window at the Dry Clean Spa on Franklin Turnpike. Waldwick police and firefighters responded, along with a borough building inspector who found minimal damage, allowing other businesses in the strip mall off Wyckoff Avenue to continue operating. This Sunday: Pink Heals Rallies First Responders For Special Waldwick, Cliffside Park Boys Two special young boys will be treated to a parade of first responders this Sunday in Waldwick, thanks to Pink Heals of Bergen County. Both Cole McKeon of Waldwick and Austin “AJ” Katchen of Cliffside Park were diagnosed months apart last year with Stage 4 neuroblastoma, a type of cancer that attacks certain types of nerve tissue. Before his first birthday, AJ had successful tumor resection surgery, the first of several operations. He’s also undergone chemotherapy that kept him hospitalized several months. Doctors declared AJ in remission last summer, but his immunotherapy and radiation t…
