Nearly 250 Housing Units Proposed For River Vale Golf Course
The Edgewood Country Club in River Vale could soon be redeveloped, paving the way for 249 housing units. If approved by the Joint Planning Board Thursday, the 27-hole golf course would be reduced to 18 holes -- 24 of which would fulfill River Vale's affordable-housing requirement by the state. The remaining 225 units would be 193, three-bedroom townhouses and 32, two- and three-bedroom quadplex units. Armored Car Crashes In Ridgewood
An armored car driver was hospitalized with a leg injury Saturday after the rig clipped two utility poles and struck a tree in Ridgewood. Several armed security guards and uniformed police officers stood by as currency the rig was carrying was transferred to another after the incident in the 300 block of South Maple Avenue. Village police, firefighters and EMS responded. The driver was taken to The Valley Hospital. A heavy-duty wrecker removed the demolished vehicle as traffic was detoured from the scene. Boyd A. 3 Hospitalized In Jackknifed Route 3 Trailer Crash
UPDATE: A Pennsylvania driver who was behind the wheel of a tractor-trailer that plowed through a concrete barrier into the oncoming lanes of Route 3 in Clifton remained hospitalized with serious injuries Thursday, as did a Paterson man who was driving a BMW struck by the rig, authorities said. A severe thunderstorm knocked out power Tuesday afternoon to nearly 5,000 customers throughout Bergen County, while igniting tree, utility pole and house fires, downing wires and darkening traffic lights. Clifton PD: Dirt Biker In Highway Police Chase Surrenders
More than a half-dozen dirt-bike racers weaved in and out of highway traffic with Clifton police in pursuit Thursday night before one of them surrendered after nearly slamming into a mini-van. Clifton detectives were trying to determine the identities of the other racers after charging 29-year-old Leon Cleveland of Paterson with eluding. Car Fire Slows Northbound Route 17 Traffic In Waldwick
WALDRICK, N.J. -- Waldwick and Ho-Ho-Kus firefighters doused a sedan fire that backed traffic for miles during the Monday morning rush downpour on northbound Route 17. : Paramus Mayor Won't Change The Blue Laws
PARAMUS, N.J. -- Despite being home to New Jersey's largest shopping center, Paramus Mayor Richard LaBarbiera won't be changing the blue laws, he said. MAHWAH, N.J. -- The Ramapo Valley Road/Route 202 culvert in Mahwah officially reopened to traffic Saturday afternoon. The original date set for re-opening Ramapo Valley Road over the Darlington Brook after the project began in July was established as the end of October but various factors -- including significant utility relocation delays -- pushed the date forward.
