Police: Franklin Lakes Car Thieves Steal BMW, Burglarize Six Other Vehicles Thieves hit Franklin Lakes before dawn Tuesday, stealing a BMW and burglarizing six other vehicles, authorities said. The BMW was reported stolen from a Scioto Drive driveway, Capt. John Bakelaar said. Three vehicles were entered on Garden Court, as were two others on Longbow Drive and another on Northwood Drive, the captain said. Like the stolen BMW, all of the vehicles were parked in driveways, Bakelaar said. Police and prosecutors throughout North Jersey have been warning vehicle owners to not become victims. Police: Oakland Businessman 'Set Up House' In Franklin Township Resident's Home A Franklin Lakes resident returned home in the middle of the night to find an apparently homeless businessman from Oakland staying there, said authorities who arrested the alleged intruder. The Scioto Drive resident called police after pulling up around 1:40 a.m. Sunday and finding an unknown car parked in his driveway, Capt. John Bakelaar said. Police Crash Franklin Lakes Underage Drinking Party, Intoxicated Girl Hospitalized A severely drunken girl had to be hospitalized after Franklin Lakes police crashed an underage drinking party Sunday night, authorities said. Matthew Lyons, 19, was arrested on charges of providing alcohol to minors after the 11:20 p.m. incident on Scioto Drive. He was released pending a hearing. Franklin Lakes Ambulance Corps took the teenage girl to The Valley Hospital.
