Lyndhurst PD: Raging Drunk Driver Subdued After Brawl With Police A drunk driver had to be subdued after he fought with Lyndhurst police while threatening to kill them and himself, authorities said. Sgt. Paul Haggerty ran a check on an occupied a Jeep parked at the far end of the Quality Inn lot on Polito Avenue late Monday and discovered that its registration was expired and the owner’s driver’s license was suspended. The Jeep began to drive off when Officer Richard Jasinski joined Haggerty in stopping the vehicle, Detective Sgt. Vincent Auteri said. Lyndhurst Police Sgt. Paul Haggerty and Officer Steven Batista responded to a 911 call just after 12:30 a.m. Monday at the Quality Inn on Polito Avenue, where a 42-year-old Belleville woman told them that Anthony Pate had attacked her, Detective Sgt.
