Man Struck By Train In Garfield A man suffered life-threatening injuries when he was struck by a train in Garfield over the weekend, authorities said. The 8:17 p.m. Bergen County Line 1883 train from Hoboken to Waldwick struck Nassir K. Essery, 21, of Garfield in the area of Eberhard and Outwater lanes near the Plauderville station at 8:50 p.m., a New Jersey Transit spokeswoman reported. He was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. No injuries were reported to any of the 60 people aboard the train and there was no disruption to service as customers took following trains. Saddle Brook Man, 71, Struck, Killed By Commuter Train In Garfield A 71-year-old Saddle Brook man was struck and killed by a commuter train while crossing the tracks in Garfield Tuesday afternoon, responders and witnesses said. Midland Avenue was temporarily closed from Semel Avenue to Outwater Lane after the mishap occurred around 3:30 p.m. near the Plauderville Station. The No. 64 train left Port Jervis and 1:35 p.m. and was due to arrive in Hoboken at 3:54 p.m., NJ Transit's Kate Thompson said.
