Pedestrian Struck, Critically Injured On Route 46
A 47-year-old woman was in critical condition after she was struck by a car Monday night on Route 46, responders said. The driver of the white Nissan hatchback that hit her remained at the scene of the crash in the westbound lanes at Phillips Avenue in South Hackensack shortly before 10:30 p.m. The victim, believed to be homeless, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center. Township police, two ALS units from HUMC and a Little Ferry First Aid Corps ambulance crew quickly tended to the victim and got her to the hospital. The driver remained at the scene. Stolen iPad's Ping Leads To Multi-Burglary Arrest: Ridgefield Park PD
A cellphone stolen during a burglary spree led Ridgefield Park police to a South Hackensack motel and the arrest of a suspect tied to several area break-ins. Village police headed to the Congress Inn in South Hackensack after one of the victims told them that his iPad had pinged there, Sgt. Justin Tress said. Suer enough, they found Shamiar L. Clyburn, 33, of Paterson, on nearby Phillips Avenue off Route 46. UPDATE: A driver from West New York was drunk when his sedan crashed into an SUV, sending the other driver to the hospital, on Route 46 in South Hackensack, authorities said. Jose A. An 85-year-old diabetic from Pennsylvania who was reported missing was rescued overnight by a South Hackensack police officer nearly 150 miles from home. Officer Ashley Lagrosa spotted the Reading, PA man's car parked on the side of Phillips Avenue between Routes 80 and 46 around 2:30 a.m. Jan. 27, Detective Sgt. James Donatello said.
