Driver, Passenger Flee NJ Turnpike Crash: State Police (

A driver and a passenger fled the scene of a crash with another vehicle on the NJ Turnpike in Bergen County Monday evening, Oct. 28, police said. The Toyota RAV4 and Audi Q3 collided in the northbound lanes at milepost 118.7 in Ridgefield Park around 6:55 p.m., New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. The driver and passenger of the Toyota fled the scene on foot and were picked up by an unknown vehicle before troopers arrived. No injuries were reported. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available at this time.

Troopers were looking for three men suspected of stealing jewelry from a vehicle at a New Jersey Turnpike rest stop in Mercer County, authorities said. After more than a year, the Park & Ride along the Garden State Parkway in Montvale, NJ is days away from reopening. Montvale Mayor Mike Ghassali said the commuter area, which had been closed and temporarily relocated to Rockland County, NY due to renovations at the James Gandolfini Rest Area, will open on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Passenger Jumps Out Of Moving SUV On NJ Turnpike In Bergen County: Police
One person was hospitalized with serious injuries after plunging out of a moving vehicle along the New Jersey Turnpike, police said. A Hyundai SUV was traveling north on the western spur in East Rutherford at milepost 113.2 around 9:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22 when the front seat passenger jumped from the moving car, NJSP Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. The passenger struck the pavement and sustained serious injuries. No further information was provided.

Overturned Tractor Trailer Shuts All Lanes Of NJ Turnpike In Bergen County
All lanes of the NJ Turnpike were closed as of 10:55 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 1 due to a tractor trailer that overturned in Bergen County, the NJDOT site says. It happened around 10:40 p.m. in the express lanes on the northbound side, just south of Exit 71 for Broad Avenue in Leonia. All lanes were blocked as of press time.

Service to NJ Transit and Amtrak trains was disrupted for the second time this week on Thursday, June 20 due to both power issues and brush fires along the NJ Turnpike, officials said. A 62-year-old Passaic County man was killed in a crash on the NJ Turnpike Saturday, March 18, authorities said. Scott Locicero was heading north on the outer roadway in a Chevrolet Silverado, when he struck the left guardrail, traveled across the lanes, and struck the right concrete barrier around 7:05 p.m. in Milltown, New Jersey State Police Sgt. A pair of young men were killed in a crash on the NJ Turnpike early Christmas morning, authorities said. Pedro Morales Roias, 28, and Rolando Perez Aragon, 21, both of Bridgeton, were killed when the car they were passengers in tried changing into the lane of a tractor trailer that was trying to pass them on the northbound side in Westampton around 5:15 a.m., New Jersey State Police said. The car's driver, a 30-year-old Bridgeton man, was seriously injured while the truck driver, a 34-year-old Florida man, had minor injuries, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
