Another Gaping Sinkhole Opens Up On Route 80 Route 80 is now closed in both directions in Wharton after yet another sinkhole opened, the NJ Department of Transporation announced Wednesday, March 19. The 15-foot b 15-foot hole opened along the eastbound work zone. This sinkhole is in addition to the other one right across the highway which opened months ago.  Multiple sinkholes have been cropping up due to a void discovered underneath the highway, officials said last month. On March 14, the DOT said the eastbound lanes were expected to remain closed for another two months due to repairs.

Coreas, 30, of Bogota, was pronounced dead at the scene after his Isuzu box truck was involved in a chain-reaction crash on Thursday, March 6, at approximately 6:20 p.m., according to Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella. Special foam was needed to help extinguish the blaze, which apparently broke out in the brake system and spread early Wednesday, Sept. 28, Saddle River Police Chief Jason Cosgriff said. SUV Rolls In Route 80 Pileup A driver was injured when his SUV overturned in a multi-vehicle crash Monday night on rainy Route 80, responders said. Tractor-Trailer Pileup On Route 17N In Ho-Ho-Kus Backs Traffic For Miles Three tractor-trailers were involved in a pileup that temporarily closed northbound Route 17 in Ho-Ho-Kus Friday morning. Traffic was backed up to Paramus after the crash near Hollywood Avenue just before 10:30 a.m. One rig jackknifed across the center and right lanes, and a significant amount of diesel fuel spilled onto the roadway when a saddle tank on one of the other tractors ruptured.  Ho-Ho-Kus police and firefighters responded along with an emergency response crew from the NJ Department of Transportation.
