NJ Man Survives 60-Foot Fall From Mountain, Rescued After 10-Hour Effort
A 55-year-old New Jersey man fell 60 feet while climbing a New Hampshire mountain over the weekend, sustaining head and arm injuries as well as hypothermia, authorities said. The Oakland man was climbing Mount Webster in New Hampshire’s White Mountains with a friend on Saturday, Dec. 14, when he slipped and fell. The friend climbed down to his location, secured him, and dressed him in the warmest clothes they had before making the ascent out of the gully to get cellphone service and call for help, the New Hampshire Fish and Game Department said. Body Of NJ Climber Killed In Avalanche Recovered
The body of a 66-year-old Bergen County man killed by an avalanche last February has been recovered, officials in Washington State said. Yun Park, of Palisades Park, was among three hikers attempting to climb Colchuck Peak on Feb. 19, 2023, Chelan County Sheriff Mike Morrison said. A hiker found Park's body the afternoon of June 23, near the base of Colchuck Peak. Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office Helicopter Rescue Team was contacted for a hoist capable helicopter and accepted the mission. Authorities have identified a 66-year-old New Jersey man who was among three people killed in an avalanche in Washington State. Bergen County resident Yun Park, of Palisades Park, was confirmed as being among the dead in an update from the Chelan County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The avalanche happened Sunday afternoon, Feb. 19, in the central Cascade Mountains near Colchuck Lake, located 70 miles east of Seattle. NJ Man Dies Attempting To Climb North America's Highest Mountain
A New Jersey man died while attempting to climb North America’s highest mountain, authorities said. Fernando Birman, 48, was near the summit of Denali in Talkeetna, Alaska when he collapsed at 19,700 feet on the evening of Friday, June 3, according to the National Park Service. Birman, of Stockton, was pronounced dead at the scene despite mountain guides’ attempts to revive him with CPR.
