A Monmouth County golfer who was in high school while on the leaderboard of an LPGA major tournament's final round is returning to the event three years later. Megha Ganne qualified for the 2024 U.S. Women's Open after winning a U.S. Golf Association qualifying tournament on Monday, Apr. 15. A pair of Jersey Shore high school switched to remote learning following student parties later deemed the source of COVID-19 outbreaks, district officials said. Remote instruction began at Monmouth Regional and Holmdel high schools March 19. Liam O'Connell, 40, Of Hoboken; Fought Cancer With 'Humor And Grace'
Liam Patrick O'Connell of Hoboken died at home Friday. He was 40 years old. He died from a rare form of nueroendocrine cancer, which he battled for eight months with "humor and grace," loved ones said. Born in Red Bank to Timothy and the late Catherine O'Connell, he graduated from Holmdel High School and Boston College before embarking on a successful career as a financial adviser.
