Hawthorne Motor Vehicle Stop Turns Out 17 Bricks Of Heroin, Syringe In Underwear
A car passenger from New York had 17 bricks of heroin in his car and a syringe in his underwear when he was stopped by Hawthorne police officers, authorities said. Police officers noticed that Marcus Velez, 28 of Liberty, N.Y., seemed nervous and had track marks indicating intravenous drug use on his arms while speaking to him during a Goffle Road motor vehicle stop for violations last week, Detective Joseph DiGeronimo said. No serious injuries were immediately reported after a commercial van slammed into a sedan at a Hawthorne automotive business Thursday afternoon. The crash occurred around 4 p.m. at Goffle Automotive at the corner of Goffle Road and Rea Avenue.

A tractor-trailer toppled a traffic light at a busy Hawthorne intersection Wednesday afternoon. The pole came down at the intersection of Goffle and Rock roads, requiring police to provide traffic control. No injuries were reported.

Driver Injured After Sedan Slams Into SUV Outside Hawthorne Shopping Center
HAWTHORNE, N.J. -- An elderly driver was hospitalized Friday afternoon after her sedan slammed into an SUV outside a Hawthorne shopping center. The woman was conscious and alert when she was taken to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood following the Goffle Road crash. Both vehicles were removed by flatbed tow truck. Boyd A. : SUV Rollover Takes Out Tree, Speed Sign In Hawthorne
HAWTHORNE, N.J. -- A young driver was hospitalized with injuries that didn't appear life-threatening Monday morning after her Cadillac SUV rolled over in Hawthorne. The 6:20 a.m. crash on Goffle Road took out a tree and a speed limit sign. Goffle Road was closed in both directions between Rock Road and Route 208. A flatbed tow truck removed the vehicle. Township Engine Company #1 and Rescue Company #5 responded along with police and Hawthorne Volunteer Ambulance Corps. Boyd A. Loving contributed to this report.
