A comedian and producer with New Jersey roots has been hearing about the toxic work environment at the "Ellen DeGeneres Show" for years. Newark native and two-time Emmy Award-winner Judy Gold opened up in an exclusive interview with Page Six. The 57-year-old stand-up comic says DeGeneres was very nice and has only worked with her once, but Gold said she has been "hearing this forever." What Does Tom Hanks Want? New Jersey Bridge In His Name
An asteroid wasn't enough for Tom Hanks. The legendary Oscar-winner told talkshow host Ellen DeGeneres if he could have anything else named after him, it would be a bridge in New Jersey. "I'm on the 'Hanks,'" he joked on DeGeneres' "Burning Questions" segment. "It's pretty much backed up." Hanks appeared on the show to talk about his giant beard, being denied beer at Stagecoach Music Festival and hang out with kid astronomy expert Jerry Morrison III. A North Jersey high school principal who installed washing machines for his students has the support of talkshow host and comedian Ellen DeGeneres. Akbar Cook, the brand new principal of West Side High School in Newark, was given a check for $50,000 donation from Cheerios on "The Ellen Show" Thursday. The company will also will provide a fully-stocked pantry of food for one of Cook's extracurricular programs. A teacher from Ridgefield and her colleague got the surprise of a lifetime from Ellen DeGeneres on national television. Maria Morgana (technology teacher) and Susan Saab (Title 1 teacher) of the McKinley School in North Bergen were sitting in the talk show host's audience when the screen flashed to their school back in New Jersey.
