An electrical fire at Hackensack Meridian Health's Hackensack University Medical Center broke out Wednesday morning, Oct. 2. An activated fire alarm brought the city's fire department to the scene around 6:40 a.m., firefighters said. "Further investigation found an electrical buss bar shorted out and activated a nearby sprinkler head," the HFD said on Facebook. Ridgefield firefighters conquered frigid temperatures to quickly snuff a weekend blaze. The two-alarm electrical fire ignited in an attic vent at the single-family Shaler Boulevard home at Lancaster Road shortly before 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, responders said. An electrical fire was doused at the Coach House diner on Route 4 in Hackensack as responders handled a rapid-fire cluster of calls. A smoking outlet at the popular diner off Hackensack Avenue brought city firefighters around 11 a.m. Thursday, July 13, responders at the scene said. The scene was cleared about 90 minutes later. Firefighters quickly doused a Friday morning fire in an Oradell medical building. The apparently electrical fire broke out in an oxygen room in the three-story office building on Kinderkamack Road shortly before 8:30 a.m. Firefighters contained it to that room, kept the flames from spreading and had the blaze extinguished in minutes. Burn Victim Transferred In Overlook Medical Center Fire
A seventh-story electrical fire at Overlook Medical Center sent one person to a different hospital for treatment Tuesday, June 14. The blaze was put out before crews arrived around 8 p.m., sending a burn victim to Cooperman Barnabus Medical Center, Summit police tell Daily Voice. No further information was immediately available. Summit Police Department and Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad responded to the scene. The Summit Fire Department was assisted at the scene by Millburn, Springfield, and Union fire departments.

East Rutherford House Fire Doused
Firefighters responding to an early Sunday night blaze limited the damage at an East Rutherford home. The first on the scene found heavy smoke in the attic from an electrical fire that ignited in the second-floor ceiling of the Vreeland Avenue home, responders said. Fire crews made quick work of a blaze that broke out in the basement of a Sussex County home Thursday evening. The fire was reported at 160 Mountain Rd. in Hardyston around 4:40 p.m., the local volunteer fire department said. Responders suspect an electrical problem sparked a fire that blew through the roof of a vacant Ridgefield home before dawn Saturday. Firefighters battled cluttered conditions as well as flames that temporarily forced them to evacuate the Elm Avenue home after the broke out around 4:15 a.m. It took them about two hours to fully extinguish the blaze.
