An unlicensed Jersey City driver must spend at least 2½ years in state prison for fleeing a pedestrian crash that killed a Fairview man. Danny Maiker Vasquez, 24, abandoned his father's minivan at the scene of the overnight crash on Broad Avenue near the North Bergen border that killed 39-year-old father of two Julius Smith shortly after 3:30 a.m. July 5, 2021. Teacher Who Sexually Assaulted Teen Hudson County Students Gets Prison Time
A 46-year-old teacher was sentenced to time behind bars for sexually assaulted two teen students in Jersey City, authorities announced. Francisco Realpe, of Hoboken, was sentenced on Jan. 6 to concurrent four-year sentences in New Jersey state prison for two counts of sexual assault that he pleaded guilty to last June, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. Teen Girl Arrested For Threatening Egyptian Student At Jersey City High School
A teen girl was arrested for making a social media threat toward an Egyptian student in Jersey City, bringing an increased police presence to Dickinson High School, according to media reports and city officials. The girl sent a message from an anonymous Instagram account to the student saying she was going to "kill all of you and your Egyptian friends," after altercations between Black and Egyptian students last week, NJ Advance Media reports citing district officials. Three Jersey City high school students were assaulted and one potential gunman was in custody during a pursuit Wednesday, developing reports say. UPDATE: A Jersey City man turned himself in following a hit-and-run crash that killed a pedestrian in Fairview before dawn Monday, authorities said. Danny M. Vasquez, 24, of Hancock Avenue left the minivan, registered to his father, near the scene of the overnight crash on Broad Avenue (Route 9) and took off on foot, Fairview Police Chief Martin Kahn said. A Jersey City high school gym teacher charged earlier this month in the sexual assault of a teenage student is accused of doing the same to another student in 2004, authorities said. RIVER VALE, N.J. -- It was heartbreaking enough for a River Vale woman and her sister to lose their mom, at 80, to lung cancer a couple of weeks ago.
