Moments later, she said, he approached her on foot. Police were called, but the stranger had gone. Later that day, Officer Matt Giunta stopped a Toyota Camry on Ridge Road that matched the vehicle described by the frightened girl. A Bloomfield ex-con wanted for shoplifting thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from a Clifton supermarket was captured by Lyndhurst police as he tried to swipe nearly $450 worth of soap in their town, authorities said.
