Bergen County Man Victim Of Double Fatal Wrong-Way NY Crash: Police
A Bergen County man was identified by authorities as one of the two people killed in a wrong-way, head-on crash overnight in New York.
George Gonzalez, 68, of Dumont, was heading north in the southbound lanes of I-87 in a 2017 Toyota RAV4, when he drove into a 2022 Nissan Altima around 1 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 in Tuxedo, New York State Police said. Gonzalez's car became engulfed in flames.
The Altima driver was identified as Yehuda Weinstock, 67, of Chester, NY. Both men were pronounced dead at the scene. Neither vehicle had any passengers.

NY Woman Dead In I-280 Crash
One person died and another was injured in a crash on Route 280 in Essex County Tuesday evening, authorities said.
A tractor trailer, a Scion, Hyundai SUV, Toyota Camry, and a Honda Accord were traveling west when the tractor struck the back of the Scion, causing a chain reaction with the other two cars around 3:30 p.m. near milepost 12.6, New Jersey State Police Trooper Charles Marchan said.
The Scion driver, Nicole A. Greco, 51, of Chester, NY, was killed.
The Hyundai driver, Daniel Clark, 36, of Scotch Plains, suffered moderate injuries.

A babysitter was alone with a young child when a Pennsylvania couple broke into an Englewood home, helped themselves to food, drink – even a shower – and fled in the victims’ SUV, authorities said. They may have even had sex there, too.
The babysitter eventually discovered the pair, who fled in the homeowner’s Lincoln Navigator with jewelry, a wallet, clothing and a backpack -- while leaving the clunker they drove up in behind, they said.
They also took the one item that authorities said would lead police directly to them: an iPhone.

Oakland PD: Drug-Using Ex-Con From NY Was Carrying Gun
An ex-con nabbed by Oakland police on drug charges was carrying a handgun, authorities said.
They first grabbed Logan Dipaolo, 24, of Chester, NY, after receiving a call shortly before 9 a.m. Monday of a man who at first was laying outside a vehicle on Franklin Avenue, Police Detective Lt. Christian Eldridge said.
Seeing a responding officer, Dipaolo got up and ran into the woods near Route 287, Eldridge said.
Officer Christopher Tinio and Detective Robert Hintzen quickly got him into custody, then found several heroin folds and hypodermic needles in his car, the lieutenant said.
