Update: Driver Jumps To Death From Route 3 Bridge UPDATE: Westbound Route 3 was reopened after authorities recovered the body of a driver who responders said stopped on a bridge on the East Rutherford side of the Hackensack River, got out and jumped. The jumper's body was recovered from the water beneath the bridge across from Secaucus near the American Dream mall following the 10:58 a.m. call on Tuesday, Sept. 20, East Rutherford Police Capt. Body Of Canoeist Found In Ramapo River The body of a canoeist was retrieved from the Ramapo River in Mahwah early Wednesday afternoon, responders said. Mahwah police notified the New Jersey State Police and Bergen County Prosecutor's Office after the body turned up -- with a canoe nearby -- near Ramapough Indian land off Halifax Road late in the morning. He'd apparently been in the water for multiple days and may have been the victim of a boating accident, responders said. Authorities believe he's from the area.
