Bunch Of Vehicle Violations Turns Up 2 Pounds Of Pot In Ridgefield Stop
Perhaps it was the cracked windshield. Maybe the broken tail light. Or the missing license plate. Whatever first the eye of a Ridgefield police officer led to the seizure of more than two pounds of pot and the arrest of a driver from Manhattan. Both the registration for the Chevy Cruze and the driver’s license came back suspended following a predawn stop on Bergen Boulevard, Ridgefield Police Chief Thomas Gallagher said. The officer called for a Bergen County Sheriff’s K9, who detected the presence of drugs, the chief said. Police also found packaging materials and a scale, he said. You c…

TRIBUTE: Ridgefield Firefighter Michael McLaughlin was 51 when he answered his final alarm: While operating the tower ladder at a two-alarm blaze in 1996, the 10-year department veteran suffered a fatal heart attack. Loved ones, colleagues and grateful citizens proudly carry McLaughlin's memory – and now the children’s section of the borough library carries his name. McLaughlin’s death “was a huge blow to the department,” Fire Chief Michael Kees said at a dedication ceremony Monday night. “Mike was the guy everyone looked up to and was always glad to have around." Kees and McLaughlin’…

Suspicious Package Outside Ridgefield Teamsters: Look Out! It's A...
Ridgefield police were considering cordoning off the area and summoning the bomb squad for a suspicious package sticking out of a mailing box outside a Teamsters building when a UPS worker pulled up. "I know what this is," he said, approaching the box. “Everyone’s diving for cover as this guy grabs the package,” one responder told Daily Voice. It was a prom dress. Someone who’d used a rent-a-prom-dress service apparently couldn’t shove the package all the way into the box outside the Teamsters Local 617 building on Bergen Boulevard. A woman coming out of the building spotted th…
