UPDATE: A ferocious late-night fire that consumed one Bayonne home and spread to three others displaced nearly two dozen people, authorities confirmed. Eight residents were displaced and one was hospitalized for smoke inhalation after a massive fire over the weekend in Bayonne, authorities said. Firefighters responding to the house at 95 Hobart Ave. found smoke coming from the three-story, two-family house around 4:25 p.m., Bayonne Fire Chief Keith Weaver said. Fallen Jet Skiers Rescued From Bayonne's New York Bay
A pair of jet skiers who had fallen off and were being swept away by the current were rescued from the New York Bay on Sunday, July 10. The call came in around 1:45 p.m. in Bayonne, and the couple was found by the Bayonne Cruiseport. Members of Royal Caribbean and Port Authority of NY/NJ tossed life things to the pair, trying to make it toward the shore. A Bayonne Fire Department marine unit put a rescue swimmer in the water, and firefighters were able to remove both victims safely. The female victim was hospitalized while the male was treated at the scene and released.

First Responders Rush To Rescue Bayonne Bridge Jumper
Responders rushed to rescue a person who jumped from the Bayonne Bridge just before 2 p.m. Saturday. Arriving units found individuals on a tug boat in the Kill van Kull pulling the victim aboard, located just east of the bridge, Bayonne Fire Department Deputy Chief Bill Bartos said. Worker Dies In Bayonne Industrial Accident
A worker died in an industrial accident over the weekend in Bayonne, authorities said. First responders found the man seriously injured at the eastern edge of the former Military Ocean Terminal at the Bayonne Dry Dock, around 9:10 a.m. Sunday, the City's emergency management office said. Medics from McCabe Ambulance and the Bayonne Fire Department performed CPR on the victim, who was transported to the Jersey City Medical Center. The unidentified worker later died of his injuries. An investigation is being led by the Port Authority Police Department.

Kayaker Rescued From Water Off Bayonne
Rescuers pulled a kayaker from the water in Bayonne late Saturday afternoon.
