NORTH ARLINGTON, NJ -- The Hasbrouck Heights Aviators traveled to North Arlington Saturday night for an inter-conference match-up in the Meadowlands Football League. The teams had not met since the 2013 season.

Rocco Minichiello shook off two tacklers and busted through the middle of the line on the game’s opening play for a 50-yard touchdown as Hasbrouck Heights defeated North Arlington, 27-0. The Aviators improved to 2-0 on the season while North Arlington fell to 0-2.

The Aviator defense, which has not been scored upon so far this season turned in another dominating effort, holding the Vikings to -13 yards offense on the night.

After stopping running back Jared Valasquez on a fourth and 2 attempt at the North Arlington 47, Aviator quarterback Steven Faussette gained 52 yards on two bootlegs, giving the Heights a 13-0 lead as the first quarter ended.

The next drive, the defense set up the offense once again, tackling North Arlington quarterback Joey Witt for a 10 yard loss on a fourth and 10 reverse. On the first play, Faussette hit Minichiello with a 30 yard pass down the left sideline and a 19-0 lead, which the Aviators took into the half.

The second half continued the pattern. Kicking off to start the second half, the Aviators defense once again shut down the Viking offense, taking over at the North Arlington 30. Following an 11-yard scamper by Faussette, Minichiello scored his third touchdown of the game, with a 19-yard run. Jake Diaz’ kick was good, giving the Aviators a 27-0 lead.

Running back Anthony Dilascio rushed for 214 yards and four touchdowns as Hasbrouck Heights defeated North Arlington, 27-6, to improve to 2-0 on the season. North Arlington is now 1-1 after the defeat.

For the second straight week, the Hasbrouck Heights line was able to give Dilascio holes to run through, and he took advantage, breaking runs of 62, 52 and 35 yards for touchdowns and a 20-0 Aviator halftime lead.

North Arlington cut into the Heights lead on the opening possession of the second half as Anthony Almeida broke a 38-yard run to make the score 20-6.

The Aviators bounced right back, as Dilascio capped off an eight-play drive with an 18-yard run, giving the Heights a 27-6 lead.

AJ Parente intercepted two Viking passes, one on the last play of the first half, which was returned 30 yards before being tackled at the 15 as the half expired. His second interception, on the final play of the third quarter, was returned 70 yards for a touchdown, only to have it nullified by a Heights penalty.
