Gary Rappold Jr., 29, who recently moved to Wallington from Pompton Lakes, was carrying heroin, cocaine and drug paraphernalia, Police Chief Carmelo Imbruglia said.

Detective Lt. Shawn Kudlacik was escorting an investigator from the Bergen County Sherriff’s Bureau of Criminal Identification to the scene of one of the break-ins when he spotted Rappold.

Rappold was "nervous and sweaty," Police Chief Carmelo Imbruglia said.

Kudlacik brought him back to the scene of burglary and attempted break-in on the same block, and he was identified, the chief said.

Rappold was being held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary and possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia. He also had an outstanding warrant from Glen Rock.
