Brian Pettenger, 44, who is married and unemployed, was arrested at his Riner, VA home yesterday during a search there by detectives from the Virginia State Police and the Molinelli’s Computer Crimes Unit, the prosecutor said.
Pettenger contacted the boy on social media pretending to be another teen, Molinelli said this afternoon. They had a series of sexually explicit online chats in which child pornography was exchanged, he said.
Pettenger then threatened to post the previous photos unless the boy sent him more shots of himself, the prosecutor said.
Pettenger was ordered held on $250,000 bail pending extradition to New Jersey on charges of manufacturing kiddie porn, cyber harassment and child endangerment.
