The blaze began on the western side of the Court Avenue home around 3:20 p.m. and spread to the second floor and the attic, police Detective Vincent Auteri told Daily Voice Wednesday night.

"The cause of the fire is still under investigation with the Lyndhurst Fire Official's Office," Auteri said, "but at this time it appears to be accidental in nature.

Firefighters from Lyndhurst, North Arlington and Rutherford extinguished the blaze in less than 10 minutes, Fire Official Bobby Ferrara said. East Rutherford and Secaucus firefighters remained on standby.

Two people who live there -- one of police said was home at the time -- may be displaced, he added.

"There's a lot of interior damage," the inspector said.
