The injuries were serious enough that the Bergen County prosecutor's Fatal Accident Investigation Unit responded and conducted a full investigation, they said.

The victim was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center after being struck at the corner of Paterson and Curie avenues just before 9 a.m. by a vehicle driven by a 50-something New York man, Capt. Shawn Kudlacik told Daily Voice.

No summonses were immediately issued, he said.

An investigation was continuing.
