Text message leads to sex assault charges against Lyndhurst man, 44, of girl, now 12

EXCLUSIVE: A disturbing text message to a friend led to what authorities said was the ongoing molestation by an unemployed Lyndhurst man of a girl who is now 12, CLIFFVIEW PILOT has learned.

James Gizzo of Sanford Avenue was being held on $350,000 bail set by Superior Court Judge Lisa Perez-Friscia .

The 6-foot-1, 330-pound Gizzo, who turned 44 last week, is charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and child endangerment in connection with what Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said was a series of events spanning the past five to six years.

Detectives from Molinelli’s Special Victims Unit and Lyndhurst police arrested Gizzo on Tuesdasy night after being alerted by loved ones, who found other writings by the girl pointing to the alleged crimes, authorities told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
