James Ryan, 21, of Kearny climbed through a window eight feet off the sidewalk at the AIWA store, Detective Capt. John Valente told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

His plan apparently was to let someone else in to help with the burglary, but the front door was deadbolt-locked from the outside, so he took off, the captain said.

An officer investigating the break-in recognized the man in the surveillance footage from previous incidents in the area.

As it turned out, Valente said, North Arlington police had arrested him earlier that night on a disorderly persons charge.

Ryan was behind held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, as police continue to investigate his activities that night.
