Port Authority police find Lyndhurst vet, rescue choking dog

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: With most area veterinarians off for Easter Sunday, quick-moving Port Authority police officers saved a dog who was having trouble breathing by escorting the worried owner and his pet to an emergency vet in Lyndhurst.

The Jersey City owner drove up to Officer Tom Feuker ‘s cruiser outside the Holland Tunnel at 4:10 p.m. yesterday and said he couldn’t find a vet for Julius, his 10-year-old Maltese, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

The officer tried but couldn’t clear the obstruction, but officers found the emergency vet and got the pooch there by 4:45 p.m., he said.

The vet cleared his airway and Julius was released.
