Kenneth Grochulski, of North Arlington, was talking with a woman in the back of a building at 350 Belleville Turnpike when Detective Agostino Feola approached them just after midnight yesterday, Police Chief Louis Ghione said this morning.

The woman fled and Grochulski threw down a bag he was carrying, the chief said.

Inside were 20 or so small bags of cocaine and a larger bag that also included drug paraphernalia, he told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Feloa, who was named North Arlington Officer of the Year for 2014 before being promoted to detective, charged Grochulski with various drug possession counts with the intent to distribute it.

Grochulski also was carrying a small amount of marijuana, for which he was also charged, Ghione said.

Grochulski was living in Jersey City when he and three other people went to a Manhattan drug dealer’s apartment in October 1975 with the intent of taking his cash, court papers show.

Not finding any, they went to his parents’ apartment nearby and held six family members at gunpoint.

Grochulski then shot the dealer’s father dead at point-blank range with a shotgun, authorities said.

The NYPD arrested Grochulski and his accomplices after a witness identified his car. He was then picked from a lineup.

A subsequent trial led to a February 1977 conviction for first-degree murder and weapons possession.

Grochulski got 20 years to life — 34 of which he served before being paroled in December 2011, records show.

He has since remained under lifetime supervision, with a parole date in December 2099 — and was arrested in May 2013 on cocaine possession by detectives in Kearny.

Grochulski remained held on $32,000 bail this morning in the Bergen County Jail.
