This time, a lone robber pulled into the Delta Gas Station on Riverside Avenue around 9:45 p.m. in a small, dark-colored car — possibly a Mazda or Toyota — and asked the 22-year-old attendant for $20 worth of gas.
The attendant later told police that when he was finished, the Hispanic driver got out, pointed a handgun at him and demanded all the money he was carrying.
The attendant inside the station’s store — who had been held up himself by two men on Feb. 9 — called police as the late-20s/early 30s robber fled with a few hundred dollars in cash.
Police are reviewing surveillance video but are also advising the business owners on ways to make such stop-and-robs more difficult, Lyndhurst Police James O’Connor told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
Last month, two men ordered the clerk to open a register and hand over cash at gunpoint, police said. They also took money both employees were carrying and forced one of them to lie on the ground while they searched behind the counter for more money. They then fled with about $1,000.
