He "returned a seventh time, but the clerk was awake at that point," Detective Vincent Auteri said.

The Riverside Liquors owner didn't realize the loss until days after the March 19 thefts -- after which detectives reviewed surveillance video.

The thief is white, between 40 to 50 and at the time was wearing a grey jacket, grey button-down shirt and blue jeans, Auteri said.

The shirt had some type of patch or embroidery that make it look like part of a uniform.

Anyone with information the could help the investigation is asked to call Lyndhurst police at (201) 939-2900, ext 2740. Anonymous calls are taken on the tip hotline: (201) 804-9346.
