A sophomore from another school "came here to have lunch with other students," Police Chief James O'Connor said. "Suddenly there was a report of someone entering the school with a gun, and social media went wild with it."
"He came here to have lunch with his friends. He wasn't armed," the chief said just after 2 p.m., following a lockdown of more than an hour.
"He left the building almost immediately. No one was ever in any danger," O'Connor said.
The chief said officers remained at the school to assure parents and staff that all were safe following an extensive search and review of surveillance video.
