Officers called by a neighbor found 30-year-old Andy Parades on Stuyvesant Avenue near Lake Avenue just after 5 a.m. yesterday after being called by a Livingston Avenue neighbor who saw him fall.

“Upon hearing a loud noise from outside of her third-floor apartment window, [the woman] looked outside and observed a male suspect lifting up a screen and begin to open a window to a second-floor apartment below,” Capt. John Valente told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this afternoon.

A light in the targeted came on and Parades closed the screen and tried to run, Valente said.

He then toppled into a shrub, the captain said.

“The witness then reported observing the suspect get back on his feet and flee west on Lake Avenue,” he said.

Police found a damaged leader pipe and gutter, along with broken shrub branches.

Paredes declined medical attention, Valente said. He was being held on $5,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with burglary and criminal mischief.
