Salvador J. Santiago, 25, was being held on $500,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault, criminal restraint, making terroristic threats, hindering an investigation and tampering with evidence.

Lyndhurst police arrested him after executing a second search warrant at a Valley Brook Avenue home were they said Sunday's incident began.

The 22-year-old victim told police that he was assaulted there and abducted after ex-con Christian S. Reyes, 24, learned that he'd planned to burglarize Reyes's apartment.

"When Reyes found out about the plan, he duct-taped [the victim's] hands and feet together and used electrical cord to tie him to a chair," Capt. John Valente told Daily Voice.

The victim's head and eyebrows were shaved with a razor and his hair cut off with a knife, the captain said.

The victim said he was then ordered into Reyes’s car at gunpoint.

Valente said he was ordered to contact a friend who allegedly was going to help him burglarize Reyes's Lyndhurst apartment and arrange a meeting.

"The intent was to assault him, as well," the captain said (SEE: Lyndhurst Police: Kidnappers Shaved Victim's Head, Body, Burned Tongue ).
