Lyndhurst man: Robbers fire 2 shots, take $200

Police collected shell casings from the hallway while detectives spoke with the 26-year-old victim and his girlfriend following the 6:20 p.m. incident in the 500 block of Stuyvesant Avenue, Police Chief James O’Connor told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

The purported victim said he left his  second-floor apartment to go the store but then changed his mind. As he headed back inside, he said, the robbers followed him up the stairs.

One of them fired the shots, and he gave them $200 in cash, he said.

His girlfriend told police she opened the door when she heard the commotion, saw the robbers accosting him, then closed it after one of them demanded her cellphone at gunpoint, O’Connor told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Evidence was being collected by the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office’s Bureau of Criminal Identification.
