Juan Perez, 38, called 911 at 4:15 p.m. yesterday and said that “a person driving a tan auto got out of his vehicle inside the tunnel to yell at him and he saw a gun in that person’s waistband,” Joseph Pentangelo of the Port Authority Police Department told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

Officres located the vehicle on the Jersey City side, got the occupants out and didn’t find any weapon, Pentangelo said.

Meantime, late-afternoon traffic into New Jersey was backed up, he said.

“The investigation did yield information that showed Perez’s drivers license was suspended multiple times,” Pentangelo said.

Perez was arrested and released pending a court hearing on charges of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, he said.
