Lyndhurst firefighters extricate driver from van after NJ Turnpike crash

ONLY ON CVP: The driver of a box truck that collided with a tractor-trailer on the NJ Turnpike this afternoon was extricated by Lyndhurst firefighters and taken by the Lyndhurst Police Emergency Squad to University Medical Center in Newark.

“The driver was alert and conscious,” State Police Sgt. Jeff Flynn told CLIFFVIEW PILOT a little over an hour after the 12:37 p.m. center-lane crash on the southbound west extension at milepost 110.5.

Firefighters rolled the dashboard forward with hydraulic tools.
