Garfield police: Four grabbed after Passaic holdup, two swallow heroin bags

EXCLUSIVE: Two of four men arrested by Garfield police in connection with a robbery in Passaic last night were taken to the hospital after they deliberately swallowed bags of heroin, authorities said today.

Officers on the lookout following the 8:40 p.m. robbery spotted car fitting the broadcast description in an Outwater Lane parking lot, Capt. Darren Sucorowski told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

Four men were inside, he said.

Approached by police, Brandon Olivier, 18, of Wallington and 19-year-old Adam Olszewski started swallowing bags of heroin, the captain said.

Police arrested them and the two other men – identified as Yosef and Yazan Taha, both 19 of Garfield – on drug-related charges, Sucorowski said.

Olivier was taken to the hospital and then to the Bergen County Jail, where he was being held on $35,000 bail. Olszewski was released on a summons after the hospital visit, the captain said.

The Tahas were charged on summonses and turned over to Passaic police for further investigation involving the robbery, he said.
