The North Arlington woman remained in stable condition at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center today after being struck around 11:30 Saturday night, police said.
Julian Curatola, 23, is free on $5,000 bail, charged with leaving the scene of an accident with serious injury and hindering.
Curatola, who has a provisional driver’s license, also received summonses for having too many passengers in the car, failing to report an accident and leaving the scene, Fort Lee Police Chief Keith Bendul said this morning.
Curatola, of Fort Lee, backed his gray 2011 Volkswagen Jetta into the woman in the parking lot of The Colony Building on Palisade Avenue, Bendul said.
He then “brought her to the lobby of the Colony and told the doorman she fell and needed an ambulance,” the chief said. “[H]e then fled the scene.”
Because of the severity of her injury, Fort Lee police were notified, Bendul said.
An investigation followed involving the department’s General Investigation Bureau and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Fatal Accident Investigation Unit.
