Two station employees at Bridge Exxon on Riverside Avenue -- one of them 32 and the other 27 -- told police the robber pulled up in a newer-model black Mercedes just after 4 a.m. Wednesday, Capt. John Valente said.

After the car stopped between the two pump islands, a passenger in a hooded sweatshirt and ski mask got out brandishing a gun, he said.

The pump jockey said he tried to run, but the robber grabbed him, demanded cash and got $200.

At the same time, a second passenger wearing the same type of outfit got out and scoured the attendant booth for cash.

Both robbers "then escorted the gas attendant [inside the convenience mart] at gun point," Valente said. "Once inside, they ordered the store attendant to open the cash register at which time several hundred dollars in cash was removed.

"Cash was also removed from a separate lottery cash register as well."

Both robbers got back into the car and headed west on Kingsland Ave over the DeJessa Bridge into Nutley, the captain said.

The ftibrt never got out, he said.

The first robber was described as black, thin and about 6 feet tall, wearing wearing jeans and the hoodie and mask, with gloves.

The second was desribed similarly, but about two inches shorter.

No description on the driver could be given.

Detective Michael Lemanowicz was reviewing security video of the incidenta as part of an investigation.
