Car strikes, kills pedestrian in Lyndhurst

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 61-year-old man was struck and killed overnight in Lyndhurst while walking in the  middle of the street in dark clothing. Although the accident technically is still under investigation, police didn’t find reason to file any charges against the 18-year-old driver, who lives in town and was clearly shaken by the incident.

Accident scene on Park: Just south of Court

The two-door Acura was headed north on Park Avenue near Court Avenue when it struck Teofilo Bermudez as he walked in the middle of the street around 3:30 a.m., police told CLIFFVIEW PILOT. He was pronounced dead at the scene, they said.

Bermudez, who police said apparently was from Pompton Lakes, wasn’t carrying any identification, CLFFVIEW PILOT has learned.
