He worked as a draftsman in the aeronautical industry for Bendix and Curtiss Wright. He was an exempt member of Wallington Truck Company No. 1 and coached Babe Ruth Baseball. He was also a 55-year member of the Garfield Masonic Temple. He was a parishioner of the Wallington Presbyterian Church, where he served on many boards, and performed many repairs. He and his wife were active members of the Wallington Seniors and the AARP Chapter 4115.
Zoon is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elaine; daughter Susan Devlin and her husband Robert; son William J. Zoon Jr and his wife Cynthia; grandchildren Kristen, Holli, Veronica and Shawn Wieland; great granddaughters Fiona and Ruby.
Visitation is 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 21 at Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave. Wallington.
A funeral mass takes place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22 at the Wallington Presbyterian Church, 9 Bond St., Wallington. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Cemetery in Totowa.
