WALLINGTON, N.J. – Steven Costic, a lifetime resident of Wallington, died Thursday, March 10. He was 95.
Prior to his retirement in 1985, he and his late wife, Josephine, owned and operated Wally's Tavern in Passaic for seven years. Previously, he was a bartender for the Crows Nest, Cameo, Wortendyk Inn and Steins Cafe. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Force and served during World War II. He earned the American Theater Ribbon, Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, Good Conduct and Victory Medals and was a member of the Wallington V.F.W. Pavlick Koster Post 2640.
He also was a parishioner of Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Wallington.
He was the husband of the late Josephine (Stopinski); father of Steven Costic Jr. of Roseland and the late John W. Costic; grandfather of Brian Rodburg and Jill Dellanno; and great-grandfather of Noah, Jonah, Catherine and Charlotte.
He was predeceased by five brothers and a sister.
Visitation will take place from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Kamienski Funeral Home of Wallington, 106 Locust Ave., Wallington. A chapel service will take place at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
