Marie Ann Vasile, 90, Of Wallington

WALLINGTON, N.J. -- Marie Ann Vasile, of Wallington, died April 2, 2016. She was 90. 

She was born Aug. 20, 1925, in Ensley, Ala., to Joseph and Nellie (Tombrello) Palazzolo.

In 1934, when she was 9, the family moved to Brooklyn, N.Y. On April 13, 1947, she married the love of her life, Biagino "Carlo" Vasile at St. Joseph The Patron of the Universal Church in Brooklyn. They would have been married 69 years in two weeks. 

In 1957, they moved to Wallington, where they would become very active in their church and community. Vasile was a homemaker and worked at The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus School for many years as a kindergarten teacher. 

After her retirement, she was a substitute teacher at Passaic Catholic and St. Anthony's schools.

In addition to being a loyal parishioner of The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, she was one of the founding members of the "Share and Care" program or the (babka and flowers ministry) within the parish. She also was an active member of the Wallington Seniors. 

Vasile is survived by her husband Carlo; her five children and their spouses, Eugene and Judy, Robert and Janice, Elizabeth Faatz and John, Thomas and Maureen "Quinn" Vasile; 13 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; a sister Phyllis Macinta; a brother Jack and (Rita) Palazzolo; and many nieces and nephews. 

She was predeceased by seven sisters and her son-in-law Robert Faatz. 

Visiting hours are from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, 80 Midland Ave., Wallington. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday followed by burial at St. Mary's Cemetery, Saddle Brook.

In lieu of flowers, and at her request, no flower arrangements please. Instead, have a Mass offered in her memory, or bring a single rose.
