Helen M. Chapman, 88, Of North Arlington

NORTH ARLINGTON, N.J. -- Helen M. Chapman, 88, of North Arlington, died Wednesday, Sept. 7. She was 88. 

She was born May 28, 1928, in Pittston, Pa. She was raised in Duryea, and lived in Jersey City and North Arlington before moving to Kearny in 1979. 

Before retiring more than 30 years ago, she worked 15 years for the National Council on Compensation Insurance in both Lyndhurst and Florida. Earlier, she worked at Western Electric in Kearny. 

She was a member of the Italian-American Club and Senior Citizen Harmony Club, both of North Arlington. Chapman enjoyed traveling and her hobbies included crocheting, knitting and doll collecting.

She was predeceased by her husband, Robert L. Chapman; and siblings, Thomas Doxbeck and Shirley Wolcott. 

She is survived by her children, Robert L. Chapman Jr. and Karen Hrevnack; husband, Michael J.; grandchildren, Michael R. and Alison R. Hrevnack; and siblings, Al Doxbeck, Joseph Doxbeck, Dolores Slatky. 

Funeral services will take place at 9 a.m. Wednesday at Parow Funeral Home, 185 Ridge Road, North Arlington, thence to Our Lady Queen of Peace Church in North Arlington for a 10 a.m. funeral Mass. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Chapel Mausoleum in North Arlington. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
