Baez was born in Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico, to Santos and Gloria (Castro) Baez. As a young boy, he traveled to the mainland, and he was raised in New Jersey. He has lived in Wallington for the past six years.
Most recently, he was a member of the Living Water Church in Paterson. Prior to that, he played Latin percussion for the Ebenezer Church and the Alma Latina.
Baez is survived by his wife, Rocio; children Eliel and Tiana Baez; and five grandchildren.
Visitation was on Sunday, Oct. 2, and the service was on Monday, at Warner-Wozniak Funeral Service, in Wallington. Interment was in East Ridgelawn Cemetery, in Clifton.
